App Game Recommendations

Main Post:

Anybody know any fun phone games that aren’t bogged down with so many ads and pop ups that they’re unplayable? A lot of the puzzle games I’ve tried usually overload me with ads before I can decide if I enjoy it or not. I do already own a copy of Wylde flowers on the switch and stardew valley on Steam. I wouldn’t even mind paying a few dollars for a fun game, but I don’t have much to drop so FTP is more ideal.

Editing to add: I already own and play good coffee great coffee and the Nikki dress up series

Top Comment: animal crossing pocket camp: complete is SO worth the money. its quite a bit, so i understand if its way too expensive!!! its just that it has tons of content (years and years worth), not a single microtransaction, and can be played offline!!! i love it so dearly and check it every single day. (ac is my special interest so i am biased!!!)

Mobile games that are actually good

Main Post:

What's your favourite mobile game? I'm on Android.

The game I'm looking for is ideally free, but happy to spend a couple of quid if it's really good

I need to be able to pick it up and put it down easily -- I'll be playing during downtime at work

Preferred genres are strategy, city builders, turn based RPGs, card games, but I'm open to anything really.

Anything but clash of clans and those types of games.

Top Comment: Here's stuff I've played during downtime at work. Most of these are great to install and fiddle with for a bit between tasks without demanding too much undivided attention. Strategy Unciv - Civilization clone for mobile. If you like strategy/turn based/city builders this one's a no-brainer Uciana - A micro-4x game with a space exploration theme. Not super impressive, but I played a few rounds of it and had a fun time. You can complete a map of it in an hour or so Cell Lab - Really cool puzzle/sandbox game where you design artificial organisms to thrive in a particular environment. Takes a while to get how it all works but you can make some pretty neat stuff in it Fallout Shelter - Pretty decent strategy/colony management game Incremental Games Melvor Idle - A nice idle game. Takes a while to get going but there's a lot to find/do. I played it for a few minutes a day for about a year without losing interest. Sandship - Cool factory-building incremental game. Kind of poorly balanced, but there's a satisfying progression scheme of building larger and more complex factories. Drill Down - Another factory-building incremental game with a bit more freedom in how you approach it. I didn't play this much before getting distracted but it seems like there's a lot here Merchant/Merchant Heroes/Space Merchant - Series of incremental/idle games that I liked quite a bit RPGs Exiled Kingdoms - A huge open world RPG made by like one dude. Tons to explore and find, and a charming amount of jank in terms of both graphics and systems/balance. Has a free and premium version that are both quite good. Highly recommend. Random Adventure Roguelike 2 - Definitely give this one a look. Although it's got "roguelike" in the name, you can play without permadeath and I highly recommend doing so since progression is somewhat grindy. Nonetheless, this is an open world RPG with some survival elements and a TON to find and explore. Cardinal Quest 2 - Fantastic little roguelike with lots of unique classes, missions, objectives, and unlockable meta-progression Occidental Heroes - Cute open world adventure roguelike with some nice personal touches - each character you can choose at the beginning of the game has some special side-content just for them, so every party composition will have a slightly different experience

Actually good mobile games

Main Post:

The app store is full of shovel ware and it's hard to sift through to find the good stuff. I'd like mobile games that are engaging in more ways than the traditional mobile games. Stuff like platformers or RPGs or something. Something unique and creative, stuff that is actually want to pay for. That being said, it doesn't need to be free because the free ones are the worst in terms of quality

Top Comment: Alto. It's a simple game about skiing down a mountain. The best part, it's completely offline. Makes for a great game to play on a flight.

Please suggest me a good mobile game

Main Post:

Man the app store front page is like a toilet bowl made of gold. When the lid is closed, it looks all fancy and nice, but at the end of the day its full of shit. Wherever you look, all you see are crappy games with predatory monetization strategies and shit ton of micro transactions. Several years ago gameloft singlehandedly carried mobile gaming on its back, now the company is crap, all the good games are taken off. Same with other good mobile games, they are either taken down or filled with crappy micro transactions. Please suggest me a good mobile game that i can play. I tried those paid story games such as grimvalor, but once ur done with the story, theres not alot left to do in the game. Please suggest me a good one

Good mobile games?

Main Post:

Hi, I love gaming, but I've got no time. So I try to do some gaming in my free time during work. I once saved a whole post here on Reddit, but it seems to be deleted.

What is your favourite mobile game?

I tried marvel snap and clash royale. Both are fun and I like the multiplayer aspect. What about you?

Top Comment: Honestly? emulators. I recently get a cellphone as a gift and tried lots of games, anime official licensed games, unlicensed anime games, idle games, even the mighty doom which is an official doom game, some pokemon games, and all of them ALL, are grindy, gacha games with an abusive power creep to keep milking whales who pay, not my type of games. NOW said that, plants vs zombies 2 is great if you download a custom apk with all the plants so you can enjoy the game without the pay wall and the pay to fast. Bloons is another MPV because is basically a pc game, but it costs money and also have some micro transactions. Just download PPSSPP, Drastic, pizza boy, and enjoy.

Actually fun mobile games? I essentially beat my main one & it's driving me insane how lame almost all app store games are.

Main Post:

The game I played it's called Archero and essentially as a free to play player I'm capped out. It's a dungeon crawling type shooter game but I'm open to anything.

I have a few controversial opinions as a gamer but my biggest one - I believe games should be fun. honestly, almost immediately.

I can do the grind or level up yes but it doesn't make sense to me why it seems that there needs to be a time sink invested so any genre can be considered fun as a recommendation if you have one.

I know that most games are designed with the intentions to pull money from you, but even the few are given a chance on just straight up suck.

So I'm not complaining I'm 32 so from super Nintendo on I spent my entire life willing to give it a chance but I physically have not been able to find anything remotely interesting let alone addictive outside of the brainless puzzle wordscape candy crush type games so if you have something that you absolutely recommend even if it's not free please do

Top Comment: Polytopia is a game I'd recommend to pretty much anyone. Completely free to play but if you want to pay it's super fairly priced for extra content. Swordigo is an oldy but a goody. I've also been playing a crap ton of arknights. A game I fully expected to hate and i especially am not a fan of waifu games, but dang this one a so much better than it has any right to be. Metal slug awakening wasn't bad for the little time a played it And I just discovered the bad 2 bad games. I'll have to play more to have an opinion but they seem like they'll be a good time. I don't know if any of these are up your alley but that's what I've been playing recently

Besides the play store, Where do you download games?

Main Post:

My options:

  1. play store, full of evil dev's gachas and black hat tools. It's organized as a store you can browse, but the algorithm and ads are terrible. FFS, I don't want monopoly bullshit, stop showing it to me, I want to block it or hide it from the store
  2. apks, ports from GitHub or other repositories. Free. No store, surf the web, follow recommendations, good luck finding a version that works for your phone.
  3. itch.io, there's an app, Mitch, that serves as store app. 99% are indie games, not centered around android, there's a filter though. Some are free to pay, some have price. Quality varies.
  4. epic. it has like 4 games?
  5. steam doesn't actually have a store, afaik. I wish they did.

Any other option?

Top Comment: TapTap - you can find some unreleased games in testing/beta status and play early
